Service Dogs

For those who have had a change in mobility over their lifetime, we train and place mobility service dogs, free of charge.

A Nonprofit Service Dog Organization

Sparks Service Dogs is a nonprofit based in Minnesota that trains and places mobility service dogs at no cost to the recipient.

Meet Our Dogs

  • Doc

Doc is a sweet and spunky golden retriever who joined our training program February 2025. Doc is named for the owner of our vet clinic, Como Park Animal Hospital, Dr. David Wetherill, who is affectionately called Doc by his staff. Doctor Wetherill has generously donated the care received by all of our service dogs in training. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Doc!

  • Amsa

Amsa, pronounce am-see, is named for the grand father of our founder and executive director, Robert Amsa Sparks. Mr. Sparks was an air force veteran, family man and all around decent person. We look forward to watching Amsa grow!

  • Grover

Grover came to us from The Service Dog Connection in Oregon. He is a wonderful service dog candidate and we are so excited to see what the future holds for him.

  • Schroeder

Named for Schroeder, the pianist in Charles Schultz’s Peanuts, Schroeder is our first service dog in training. As of May 2024 Schroeder was released from our program after being diagnosed with chronic health issues. He now lives his best pet dog life with our executive director.
